Daily Living Skills Development Program (DLS)

Shopping & Basic Mobility Program: The goals of this program are for participants to recognize neighborhood stores (supermarkets, service providers, etc.), become familiar with the procedures for transactions and services in each setting (e.g., properly executing purchases or expressing requests/orders), develop self-control over desires, respect queues, perform checkout procedures, manage money, and organize purchased items.

Cooking Program: The objectives of this program are for participants to acquire basic skills in preparing simple meals and beverages, as well as to gain general knowledge about food, kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, safety rules, and the proper use of utensils, tools, and appliances. The program also emphasizes the cultivation of good table manners. Finally, it encourages children and young people to adopt healthy and high-quality dietary habits.

External Programs for Traffic Education and Community Socialization

These programs aim to promote the socialization of participants, as well as the acquisition and generalization of social rules and values, the adoption of appropriate behavioral models within society or specific social groups, and the reduction of inhibitions.

Additionally, training is provided for appropriate responses to emergency situations, and participants are encouraged to pursue communication actively. Secondary objectives include traffic education, the development of proper street behavior, planning specific routes and (mental) maps, and improving orientation skills.

Groups for the Development of Social Skills and Psychological Support for Adolescents/Young Adults

Individual or paired programs focus on the development of basic functionality, communication, and socialization skills.

Support Groups

These groups are open to young adults aged 18 and above. Participation in the two-hour support session is mandatory. It is made clear to participants that a fundamental rule of the group is confidentiality; participants are expected to trust the setting and feel able to express deeper needs, desires, concerns, and personal goals.

The objectives of the group are both individual and collective. Each participant is expected to present their personal goals, after which common individual goals are identified and addressed collectively within the group.

Some of the main objectives of the group include: Recognizing and placing personal needs and desires within realistic boundaries. Managing negative emotions such as anxiety, sadness, and anger. Establishing personal boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others. Learning emotional release techniques. Enhancing social interaction and collaboration in a practical, experiential manner (e.g., through organizing and participating in outings according to participants’ interests).

Inclusion & Socialization Program

This is an individualized program designed for children and young people with autism or intellectual disabilities, aiming to develop social skills and, consequently, facilitate their integration into small groups.

The program takes place two to three times per week and is supported by educators from various specialties who utilize a wide range of educational tools.

The objectives are tailored to meet the specific needs of each participant.

Language Activities

The aim of this program is primarily to develop linguistic intelligence and logical-mathematical thinking.

Through a variety of activities, the program promotes:

-Understanding of dialogue and interaction rules

-Vocabulary expansion (both receptive and expressive language/communication)

-Attention and concentration

-Enhancement of imitation skills

-Development of empathy

Opening Hours

At the Creative Activity Center, the programs take place daily throughout the entire school year. The days and times the child/young person will attend depend on the group to which they will be assigned (a decision based on their abilities, needs, and the programs they wish to participate in). The program schedule is divided into two time zones:

A First Zone 13.00-16.00
B Second Zone 16.30-19.30

Some of our beneficiaries attend and participate in the programs during the First Zone (13:00–16:00), while others attend during the Second Zone (16:30–19:30). During each time zone, multiple groups participate simultaneously in different programs.

If preferred, there is also the option for an individual to participate exclusively in a single program.

Location

The programs are held at our facilities, at the 4th High School of Palaio Faliro, and at our organization’s space in the playground (Agia Skepi area – Palaio Faliro). For participants from the southern suburbs, there is also the option of transportation via the Association’s bus (pick-up from specific locations) upon prior arrangement.

Participation in the Programs

Interested individuals can initially contact the Association by phone (+30 210 9828150). A face-to-face meeting is then arranged, serving as a first introduction with the supervisor and the department head. During this meeting, the participant’s integration into one of the Creative Activity Center (KDAP) groups is discussed, based on the child’s/young person’s specific needs and abilities.
