What does this mean?

With the support of ALMA’s multidisciplinary staff team:

  • Participants learn how to prepare a delicious morning coffee!
  • They create colorful candles, body scrubs, as well as decorative items, keychains, jewellery and much more!
  • They keep up to date with technology by learning basic ICT skills.
  • They acquire administrative and office-related skills.
  • They bake tasty pastries and snacks – filling the neighborhood with wonderful aromas!

The reason they do all this, with the support of ALMA’s specialized support staff, is because they want to be useful! It is important for each of us to contribute, after all!

Because the most important thing for our trainees / service users is to BELONG — to experience social inclusion!

In our neighborhood, Nea Smyrni, they also support any neighbor who needs help.

They take the dog for a walk.

They water the plants.

They support with supermarket or open-air market shopping.

They lend a hand with the rugs or with taking down the curtains — everyday independent-living tasks.

ALMA’s Day Centre is a Mental Health Unit, supervised by the Directorate of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health. The service provides daily therapeutic intervention, pre-vocational training, and psychosocial rehabilitation for adults and adolescents over 15 years old. The service also functions as a family support and counselling point.
