Day Centre for children with Autism and Disperse Developmental Disorders
In 2008, within the framework of “Psychargo” programme of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, the day center for children and teenagers with disperse developmental disorders came into existence. The centre operates as a unit of daily therapeutic intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation and as a station for the provision of advice and support to families.
It addresses:
children and teenagers of both sexes (3 to 14 years old) with the following diagnosis: “Disperse Developmental Disorders” who show:
- developmental disorders (learning disabilities – disperse developmental disorders – autism)
- mild and moderate mental disability
- behavioral and emotional disorders (such as disorders of hyperactivity type, mild disorders of conduct, disorders of social anxiety)
- psychosocial problems
The programmes include:
- psycho-educational intervention:
educational programmes on a personal and group level for the development of cognitive and social skills. The aim is to prepare children to enter school or to support children at school.
- psycho-social rehabilitation:
development of skills that promote the child’s autonomy (personal hygiene programme, toilet programme, alimentation programme etc)
- enriching programme: music, psycho-kinetics, athletic activities
- school re-integration with learning support
- supervision by child psychologists
- parents’ groups and parents’ counseling
- cooperation with kindergartens and primary schools (public and private)
Our aim is to provide our 3-year-old children with a comprehensive and rich programme that will lay the foundations for their future development
